AUC’s U.K.-Track medical degree program provides a new opportunity for non-U.S. citizens to earn a Doctor of Medicine degree through study in the United Kingdom. There are two different paths for entry, based on where you are in your education journey.

Curriculum

AUC’s U.S. modeled Doctor of Medicine Program blends rigorous classroom study, simulation exercises, and community service.

Molecules to Medicine (20 Credit Hours)

The Molecules to Medicine module will provide students with a current understanding of the intimate interplay between molecular structures and functions, intracellular molecular systems, and human pathologies using a systemic approach.

Hematology, Oncology, Attack and Defense (10 Credit Hours)

he Hematology, Oncology, Attack and Defense module provides a comprehensive and in-depth study of normal and abnormal blood physiology, hematological oncology, pharmacology, histology and embryology, pathology, immunology, and microbiology.

Musculoskeletal and Skin (10 Credit Hours)

Musculoskeletal and Dermatology module aims to examine the organ systems of the skin and the musculoskeletal structures.

Cardiovascular (10 Credit Hours)

The Cardiovascular module will provide students with a detailed understanding of the cardiovascular system that integrates knowledge from scientific disciplines and clinical medicine.

Respiratory and Renal (10 Credit Hours)

The Respiratory and Renal module will provide students with a detailed understanding of the respiratory and renal systems that integrates knowledge from scientific disciplines and clinical medicine.

Gastrointestinal and Nutrition (10 Credit Hours)

The Gastroenterology-Nutrition module will discuss and integrate the normal anatomy, embryology, histology, and physiology of the gastrointestinal system and the role of nutrition in human health.

Endocrine and Reproductive (10 Credit Hours)

The Endocrine and Reproductive module will concentrate teaching on normal and abnormal male/female reproduction and normal and abnormal endocrine function.

Brain and Behavior (10 Credits Hours)

The Brain and Behavior module will integrate and discuss the normal and abnormal anatomy, embryology, histology, and physiology of the central and peripheral nervous system.

Clinical Reasoning (10 Credits Hours)

The Clinical Reasoning Course serves as a capstone experience to the medical sciences curriculum.

Graduate Degree Program

This degree track is open to qualified students holding a Bachelor’s degree who seek a rigorous medical education program designed to help them master the basic medical sciences and develop the necessary clinical skills to practice medicine.

Degree Details

Students with a Bachelor’s degree will complete AUC’s standard medical sciences curriculum through the delivery of a post graduate diploma in International Medical Sciences from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), which AUC recognizes as equivalent to its own medical curriculum. Students then proceed to United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) Step 1 and the clinical sciences portion of the program. This degree track can be completed in four years.

  • Students complete AUC’s standard medical sciences curriculum, Semesters 1-5, through the delivery of a post graduate diploma in International Medical Sciences from UCLan in Preston, U.K.
  • Students must then take and pass USMLE Step 1.
  • Students complete clinical clerkship rotations in the wide network of AUC-affiliated teaching hospitals.

Undergraduate Degree Program

This degree track is open to qualified students who do not yet hold a Bachelor’s degree who seek an accelerated pathway to completing their medical education. Students in this track complete UCLan’s two-year Bachelor’s in Medical Sciences (Hons) degree program, which AUC recognizes as granting equivalent credit for the first semester of its own standard five-semester medical sciences curriculum.

Degree Details

Students who successfully complete the BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences degree at 2.1 or above will then complete AUC’s medical sciences curriculum, starting in the second semester. After completing the medical sciences curriculum, students then proceed to USMLE Step 1 and the clinical sciences portion of the program. Students in this track can earn their medical degree in five and a half years.

  • Students must complete UCLan’s two-year BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences with at least a 2.1. This program includes content from AUC medical sciences Semesters 1.
  • Students then have two options: (A) remain in the U.K. to complete AUC’s medical sciences curriculum (Semesters 2-5) through the delivery of a post graduate diploma in International Medical Sciences from UCLan, or (B) move to St. Maarten to complete AUC’s medical sciences curriculum (Semesters 2-5).
  • Students must take and pass USMLE Step 1 to proceed to the clinical sciences portion of the program.
  • Students complete clinical clerkship rotations in the wide network of AUC-affiliated teaching hospitals.

Location

AUCs has two locations across the world to facilitate both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens medical education. Non-U.S. based citizens can choose either the U.K. track or Sint Maarten campus. U.S. citizens study at Sint Maarten for years 1 and 2.

U.K. Location

Study in Preston, U.K. with the U.K. Track (for years 1 and 2)

International students can choose between the U.K. MD program site or Sint Maarten campus. AUC partners with UCLan to offer classes in Preston.

Hospital Affiliates

All AUC medical students, regardless of which program they choose have the option of completing clinical rotations at affiliated hospital teaching sites in the United States and United Kingdom.

Residency Placements

Preparing our students to attain a medical school residency placement is one of AUC’s highest priorities. Each year, AUC graduates apply for and obtain residencies in a variety of postgraduate training programs throughout the United States and Canada.

International Scholarships

$80,000 USD scholarships are awarded to applicants who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

Dual citizens are not eligible. Available to those who apply and qualify.
