1. AUC Is an Accredited Medical School

View Our Accreditation and Program Recognition Page.

AUC graduates are eligible to seek licensure in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Some states, such as New York, California, and Florida, require approval for international medical schools. AUC is proud to be approved in each of these states. The US Department of Education has determined that AUC is an eligible institution for participation in title IV federal financial assistance programs. AUC students who qualify are eligible to receive US student loans in order to attend our medical school.

2. A US-Modeled Doctor of Medicine Program

LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR CURRICULUM >

AUC provides a supportive learning environment, enabling its medical school students to learn the foundations of medicine according to the US medical school curriculum model. AUC students benefit from a close-knit community characterized by small class sizes*, attentive and accessible faculty, and the comforts of home that allow students to focus on their studies. All AUC clinical sites in the United States offer residency programs approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or are affiliated with a medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). This, along with our students’ performance on the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®), bolsters their chances of obtaining a residency of their choosing.

*Based on average incoming classes from 2022-23 academic year at the Sint Maarten campus.

3. AUC students’ five-year cumulative first-time pass rate for the USMLE Step 1 exam is 88.5% from 2018-2022.

LEARN HOW AUC PREPARES YOU FOR THE USMLE >

Residency directors look closely at a medical school student’s performance on United States Medical Licensing Exam® (USMLE®) exams when making a residency decision, which is why it’s important that AUC students do well on licensing exams. AUC students’ five-year cumulative first-time pass rate for the USMLE Step 1 exam is 88.5% from 2018-2022.

*First-time pass rate is the number of students passing the USMLE Step 1 exam on the first attempt divided by the number of students whose first attempt was in 2018-2022. In order to sit for the USMLE Step 1 exam students must successfully complete the Medical Sciences curriculum.

4. 97% First Time Residency Attainment Rate for 2022-2023 Grads*

RESIDENCY PLACEMENTS >

Preparing our students to attain a medical school residency placement is one of AUC’s highest priorities. Results show yet another strong year for AUC with a 97% first-time residency attainment rate thus far. AUC students and graduates will enter residency programs in 24 specialties throughout 40 U.S. states and territories.

1First time residency attainment rate is the percent of students attaining a 2023-24 residency position out of all graduates or expected graduates in 2022-23 who were active applicants in the 2023 NRMP match or who attained a residency position outside the NRMP match.
